Emma's Gifts

It's not hard to love Emma.  Maybe it's in part because Emma loves others so easily.  A classic example is the way she gives gifts.

Emma has decided that there are not enough gifts for me under our Christmas tree.  Her remedy has been to find things of her own that I have admired, wrap them, and make a stack just for me.  I know that one of my gifts is a pair of pink earmuffs.  I bought them for her a few weeks ago. I said, "I'd get some for myself, but this is the only pink pair left!"

Another of my gifts is a tiny pumpkin.  I commented to her that I love those little pumkins because they last so long... all the way to Christmas!  It's now under the tree with a "MOM" label on it.

I'm not sure what the third thing is, but it kind of feels like a sock.

The funny thing is, they're all wrapped in paper towels.  I'm not sure why ... we have plenty of wrapping paper.  I think it's Emma's way of showing me that she understands Christmas ... she understands that love often requires the act of sacrificial giving ... and that the ultimate gift of love came wrapped in paper towels,,,, I mean swaddling cloths.  Lowly means, yet so beautiful!

The presents from Emma are definitely the most beautiful gifts under our Christmas tree this year ... paper towels and all.
